Got plans for the inaugural week festivities? We cordially request the pleasure of your company at two black-tie inaugural galas: Join us on Friday, January 16 for our Kennedy Center Black-Tie Inaugural Gala Reception and Mariinsky Ballet Performance of Don Quixote (tickets start at $60). On Saturday, January 17 you are invited to our Black-Tie Inaugural Gala, dinner reception, and dance at the Indonesian Embassy (tickets start at $69).

Friday, January 09 An evening of Music and Dance at the Embassy of Russia. The International Club of DC and the the Embassy of the Russian Federation cordially requests the pleasure of your company for an exclusive and rare opportunity to attend a performance at the embassy's concert hall. The performance of classical music and traditional folk dance will be performed by young Russian prodigies from Vladimir Spivakov International Charity Foundation and Makhmud Esambaev Art School. Tickets for the concert are only $15 for a limited time. Please reserve your tickets soon, as space at the embassy is limited.

Friday, January 09 Embassy of France Friday Night Dance Soiree and Lessons: Learn to dance the Waltz and Salsa. Start your New Year and the weekend with a dance soiree at the Embassy of France. You do not need a dance partner to attend as partners will be rotated. Come by yourself or invite your friends! Let us show you how to dance the waltz, one of the most elegant and romantic ballroom dances followed by salsa one of the most popular and exciting Latin dances! The dance lessons will be followed by time to dance and meet ICDC members. Wednesday, January 14 Two to Tango: An Evening in Buenos Aires - Argentine Tango Lessons and Latin dance party. You are welcome to come by yourself. No dance partner is needed, as we will rotate partners during the lesson. Learn to dance the Argentine Tango as it is danced in Buenos Aires, Argentina. After the class, enjoy a dance performance and dance the night away to tango and Latin music.  Click here for tickets and information.

Friday, January 16, 2009. Kennedy Center Black-Tie Inaugural Gala reception and Mariinsky Ballet Performance of Don Quixote. The International Club of DC is honored to present to you a unique and unprecedented Red Carpet event at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts: We cordially request the pleasure of your company for a very special inaugural gala reception at the Kennedy Center with a performance of Don Quixote by the Mariinsky Ballet. After the ballet performance, join us for a red carpet black-tie gala reception at the South Opera Tier Lounge. Feast on delectable desserts with wine and drinks served at the open bar while enjoying the the company of your ICDC friends. A live jazz ensemble will also keep you company as you enjoy music and dancing under the opulent glow of the chandeliers. The event is expected to sell out shortly. Please reserve your tickets soon!

Saturday, January 17 Black-Tie Inaugural Gala at the Embassy of Indonesia: A celebration of Indonesian culture, music, dance, and cuisine. The International Club of DC, with the cooperation of the Embassy of Indonesia, cordially requests the pleasure of your company for a very special black-tie inaugural gala at the Embassy of Indonesia. The 44th President of the United States discovered Indonesia when he was a child and attended school in Indonesia from 1967 - 1971. It is now your turn to discover the rich cultural heritage of Indonesia! The LIVE GAMELAN MUSIC and TRADITIONAL INDONESIAN DANCE PRESENTATION is a very rare treat as we have made arrangements to present a special concert and performance of traditional costumed Indonesian singers and dancers. The evening includes a traditional INDONESIAN DINNER BUFFET with a selection of REGIONAL WINE. Saturday, January 24 An Evening of Russian Women in the Arts: A celebration of Russian, culture, art, music and cuisine at the Russian Cultural Center. The International Club of DC, with the cooperation of the Russian Cultural Center, cordially requests the pleasure of your company for an enchanting evening of Russian music, culture, art, and cuisine with a very special performance by Marina V. This is a wonderful opportunity to discover and experience Russian culture and make new friends from around the world as you meet other Russians and other internationally-minded professionals in town. The evening begins with a cocktail reception. Afterwards discover Russian culture and art as you meet ICDC members and feast on a buffet of traditional Russian delicacies and Russian spirits served at the open bar. The evening will also provide you with the opportunity to meet diplomatic personnel from the embassy as well as International Club of DC members in attendance. Tickets are only $59!

Just in time for our Viennese Ball at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, we have combined our popular dance lessons at the Embassy of France with a night of ballroom dancing following the dance lessons. Sunday, January 11, 2009. Fencing Lessons Including Equipment Rentals. Join us for an exciting lesson on swordsmanship and chivalry. The lesson will cover the basics of fencing in a relaxed, fun, and SAFE setting. All equipment will be provided. After the lesson, practice your fencing skills with other attendees. Wednesday, January 14, 2009. 2 to Tango: An Evening in Buenos Aires - Argentine Tango Lessons and Latin dance party. The International Club of DC is pleased to invite you to "An Evening in Buenos Aires." Spend an evening with us and let us show you how to dance the Argentine Tango as it is danced in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Start your evening with a Tango lesson and enjoy a night of music, dancing, and good company. After the class, MezeTango dancers will offer you a special show, high in color and elegance, commemorating the glamorous years of the 1930s. The night continues with dancing to tango and Latin music. You are welcome to come by yourself. Thursday, January 22, 2009. Embassy of France Piano Concert and Wine Reception with world renowned pianist François-Frédéric Guy. With the hectic pace of the holidays and the descent of freezing weather, we invite you to take break and "warm up" to the sounds of a delightful piano concert at the Embassy of France by world renowned pianist François-Frédéric Guy. The performance is followed by a wine reception to meet the artists as well as ICDC members in attendance. Please reserve your tickets soon, as capacity at the auditorium is limited. Sunday, January 25, 2009. Languages of the World: French, Spanish, German, and Italian language discussion. Our Languages of the World series is on one of our most popular events. We have been offering this event to our multilingual members for more than 4 years and it is a great opportunity to practice a foreign language! Thursday, January 29, 2009. A Taste of Austria: Piano Concert & Dinner Reception at the Austrian Embassy. Please join us at the Embassy of Austria for a classical piano concert to commomorate “The Memory of 200 Years of Franz Joseph Haydn," one of the Austria's most celebrated composers. The evening is also a great opportunity to meet and socialize with ICDC members who enjoy classical music. Sunday, February 01, 2009. Volunteer at the Capital Area Food Bank to combat hunger. Spend an afternoon with ICDC Benefactors and help combat hunger in the Washington DC area. Our volunteer initiative at the Capital Area Food Bank is a wonderful way to help those who are less fortunate while meeting other compassionate ICDC members who care about our community. There is no charge to attend this event but reservations are mandatory. Please make your reservation online.

Friday, February 06, 2009. Embassy of Saudi Arabia Dinner Reception and Cultural Presentation. We cordially request the pleasure of your company at a very special dinner reception at the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia. Sunday, February 08, 2009. Indian cooking class with lunch and dessert at Georgetown. We had such a great time at our last Indian cooking class, we have scheduled another one by popular demand. Please join your ICDC friends for an Indian cooking class followed by lunch at one of the most celebrated Indian restaurants in town. Saturday, February 28, 2009. Viennese Ball at the National Museum of Women in the Arts: A night in Vienna. Experience a magical and unforgettable Viennese celebration of music, food, wine and dancing at the National Museum of Women in the Arts. This is a great opportunity for a private viewing of the museum’s permanent art collection, experience the elegant atmosphere of a European Ball, as well as meet international professionals and members of the diplomatic community. Sunday, March 01, 2009. Spring Festival and Private Tour at Hillwood Museum and Gardens. Celebrate the arrival of springtime with your ICDC friends at Hillwood Museum and Gardens to discover and explore one of the most comprehensive collections of eighteenth and nineteenth-century Russian Imperial art outside of Russia, as well as an extensive collection of eighteenth-century French decorative arts.
